UC San Diego believes in supporting students through several areas of their college experience. Our Success Coaches have gathered some of the most commonly used resources we recommend to first-gen college students. Browse below for resources on learning, finances, health, and jobs.

OASIS

OASIS provides academic resource communities for both STEM and humanities courses. Great for students who want consistent academic support and enjoy connecting with peers!

Teaching + Learning Commons

Teaching + Learning Commons

TLC provides study groups, tutoring, writing workshops, and "learning strategists" who can teach you how to study. They have lots of options to fit your learning needs.

Financial Aid
The Financial Aid office helps students navigate their financial aid application and review financial aid options. This includes loans, grants, scholarships, and more. Their goal is that 1st generation students know FAS is a #FirstGenSupporterUCSD!

The Financial Aid office provides you with money. SFS accepts your payments. Questions about bills and payments, SFS is your go-to!

CAPS provides tons of services to support your mental health. Feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? CAPS can help with emotional and mental stressors, big or small.

The Basic Needs Hub + the Food Pantry 

The Basic Needs Hub + the Food Pantry 

Basic needs is just that- the basics. They can help with issues such as food access, personal care products, and emergency housing. Check them out to ensure all your basic needs are covered.

If you have university insurance, SHS will provide more than primary care. They also provide services such as optometry, acupuncture, sexual health, immunizations, and more.

REAL Portal

REAL portal focuses on research opportunities. Some paid (some unpaid), this portal is great for students looking to add research to their resume.

Undergrad Research

Undergrad Research

UR is dedicated to research programs. Students will apply to a quarter-long (or longer) programs with the opportunities to work with faculty, present at conferences, and conduct their own projects.
