Triton Firsts

Triton Firsts is UC San Diego’s initiative to engage first-generation professors, lecturers, researchers, staff, and alumni at UC San Diego to inspire and equip first-generation students to excel during their undergraduate and graduate journeys.

Triton Firsts organizes programs and events that are open to all first-generation students, faculty, and staff. Triton Firsts is one of two programs in the First-Generation Student Success Programs, as part of the UC San Diego Student Success Programs (SSP). SSP serves diverse sets of students in Transfer Student Success, Undocumented Student Services, Student Veteran Resource Center, First-Generation Success Programs (Triton Firsts & Student Success Coaching Program).

Triton Firsts’ mission is to create a sense of community, offer networking opportunities, and celebrate the first-gen identity as a strength.

In programming events, Triton Firsts encourages engagement and collaboration with campus partners, staff, and faculty.

Triton Firsts signature events include:

First-Gen Welcome: kick-off event during welcome week for faculty, staff and students. September 28, 2023
First-Gen Career Readiness Conference for undergraduates
Graduation Celebrations: grad stoles, grad pins, and more
Quarterly Programs: panels, fireside chats, collaborative events etc.
